The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employment Associate or Senior Associate to join an established employment law team in Manchester.

This role offers the chance to advise a diverse client base on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, spanning contentious matters, day-to-day advisory work, corporate transactions and workplace investigations. You will enjoy meaningful client contact, the opportunity to take ownership of your caseload and the support of an experienced team committed to delivering commercially focused legal advice.

The position would suit an employment lawyer looking to further develop their expertise, strengthen client relationships and play an active role in the continued growth of a successful practice.

The Role

You will work with a varied range of clients, including businesses, company directors, HR professionals, in-house legal teams, public sector organisations and senior executives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

  • Handling Employment Tribunal claims, including cases involving discrimination and whistleblowing.

  • Providing advice on disciplinary procedures, grievances, dismissals, redundancies and organisational restructures.

  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, procedures and other employment documentation.

  • Supporting corporate transactions, including advising on TUPE and related employment issues.

  • Conducting and advising on workplace investigations.

  • Managing your own caseload and delivering practical, commercially sound solutions.

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues across other practice areas.

  • Supporting and supervising junior solicitors, trainees and paralegals, where appropriate.

  • Contributing to business development initiatives and identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships.

About You

We are keen to hear from qualified employment lawyers with a strong technical grounding and experience across a broad range of employment law matters.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment law.

  • Exposure to transactional employment work and corporate support matters.

  • The ability to manage a varied caseload and provide clear, commercially focused advice.

  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.

  • A client-focused approach and an understanding of the commercial pressures facing employers and employees.

  • The confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

For candidates operating at Senior Associate level, experience supporting junior colleagues, contributing to business development and helping to develop client relationships will be particularly valuable.

The Benefits

The successful candidate will have access to a flexible and supportive working environment, with opportunities to develop their career within an established employment practice.

The team recognises the importance of balancing professional responsibilities with life outside work and is open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an Employment Associate or Senior Associate seeking a varied caseload, meaningful client responsibility and the chance to work on a broad range of employment issues in Manchester.

If you are looking for your next move and would like to explore an opportunity offering quality work, team support and scope for further progression, we would be delighted to hear from you.
