The opportunity will appeal to an established banking lawyer with a strong transactional practice, who is looking to further develop their client base within a well-supported national platform.
You will advise a broad range of financial institutions, alternative lenders, corporate borrowers and investors on complex financing arrangements, bringing sound technical expertise and a commercially driven approach to every transaction. The role will also provide scope to influence the direction of the practice and play an active part in its future development.
The position
Taking the lead on a varied caseload of banking and finance transactions, including acquisition finance, leveraged finance, corporate lending and refinancing.
Advising lenders and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated facilities, secured lending structures and complex financing arrangements.
Negotiating facility agreements, security documents, intercreditor arrangements and associated finance documentation.
Working closely with corporate, real estate and restructuring colleagues on transactions requiring a coordinated approach across practice areas.
Providing strategic advice on funding structures, security requirements and the allocation of transactional risk.
Maintaining and expanding relationships with banks, debt funds, private credit providers, businesses and professional intermediaries.
Identifying opportunities to secure new instructions and strengthen the team's position in the regional market.
About you
You will be an experienced Banking Partner with a strong understanding of the financing market and the ability to manage sophisticated transactions from initial structuring through to completion.
You should be able to demonstrate:
A strong background in banking and finance, with particular experience in corporate and acquisition finance.
The ability to advise both lenders and borrowers on a range of financing structures.
Excellent drafting, negotiation and transaction management skills.
An established network of client and intermediary relationships.
A commercial approach to business development, with evidence of generating and converting new work.
The ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas and contribute to the development of junior lawyers.
The opportunity
This is a chance to become part of an ambitious and established national practice, with the infrastructure, client relationships and wider expertise to support the development of your banking practice.
For the right individual, there is considerable scope to build on existing relationships, introduce new clients and establish a strong position within the Birmingham and wider Midlands market.
